Up Your Living Standard, On A Budget!

Ever looked at magazines and wished you could live like that too? Being low on budget is a very common thing but what we fail to see is that an improved standard of living has very little to do with money. Just a few changes here and there in your schedule and you’re living the life you always imagined. Here’s how-

Say no to a whopping shopping spree

Some of us love to shop and others do not. And as much as we sympathize with the latter, the situation of shopaholics like us isn’t so great either. Wanting to buy so much while not breaking the bank is more difficult than it sounds.

The first step here is to actually review what you have. We sometimes tend to buy things just because we like them so much. I once knew a woman who was so fond of teacups that whenever she went for shopping she ended up buying teacups in all sizes and colours. Of course at the end of the day she had the best collection…of teacups and it probably made her very happy.
Another friend of mine loved the colour black. And so every shape, size and type of black clothing you could find at the MG Road in Bangalore was also in her closet. But going on a not-so-well-thought shopping spree isn’t the best for most people. What you need is a carefully-made list of items you absolutely require and then you go to the market and find the best within your budget. It does take time, but is worth it. Result? You have the best and that too without stretching a dollar.

Cleanliness and prevailing misconceptions

A cluttered home is the beginning of a cluttered mind. Keeping clean is a huge aspect of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. A small house all tidied up looks much better than a big but messy house with dirty corners and clothes tossed here and there. Lacking time, we often tend to avoid cleaning up our homes regularly and what is a very common misconception is that laundry and home cleaning services are too heavy on the pocket. Wrong! During the recent years, India has seen quite a development in the laundry, dry cleaning and home cleaning industry. One of the more economical and efficient companies is UClean, a chain of laundry stores, currently leading the market with their exceptional services.  Having a rider pick up your laundry from your door will save you the hassle (and time) of washing, drying and ironing your clothes all by yourself.

SAVE SAVE SAVE!

A shiny new purchase may seem like a good idea that time, but is definitely something you’ll regret later. Now is not the good time to add debts.
Save 15-20% of your income and you’ll be amazed with the results. Savings always come in handy in case of emergencies. You can easily avoid looking like a fool by not overspending and saving the money for when you need it later. Not only does this create a good impression, but it also shows how humble an individual is when he doesn’t show off his income.

Work Hard

“I don’t want to, you can’t make me”, is a great attitude if you can afford it, but not so much if you are really pinching pennies. If your budget is not providing you the lifestyle you want, then start taking up small projects to help people after work. For example- offering to babysit, dog walk and there are multiple other options that can help you earn some extra bucks without stressing yourself out with an additional job.
Moreover, picking up side hustles every now and then for extra income can treat your career really well. Been thinking about painting landscapes again? Go for it and earn some in the process.
